PSP Games That Deserve a Modern Revival

Though it has long been discontinued, the PlayStation Portable remains one of the most beloved handheld gaming devices, largely due to the uniqueness and quality of its game library. While many PSP games were excellent in Jawa88 their own right, there are several that feel ripe for a return—either through remasters, remakes, or spiritual successors. These standout titles captured players’ imaginations and brought something truly special to handheld gaming that hasn’t quite been replicated since.

One such title is Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, a prequel that added immense depth to the universe of Final Fantasy. With its innovative combat system, heartfelt story, and beautiful cinematics for the time, the game left a lasting impression on fans. Now that Final Fantasy VII Remake has introduced Zack Fair to a new audience, a modern revival or updated port of this game would be a fitting tribute and a perfect addition to current-generation hardware.

Another title that deserves attention is Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together, which offered one of the deepest tactical RPG experiences on any platform, handheld or otherwise. Its intricate class system, branching storylines, and political intrigue made it stand out, especially for strategy fans. While it saw a re-release, it still flies under the radar today and would benefit from a proper modern platform update, especially with the recent resurgence of turn-based strategy games in mainstream gaming.

Then there’s Daxter, a charming and well-executed platformer that expanded on the Jak and Daxter universe. It was more than just a spin-off; it was a polished, funny, and mechanically satisfying game in its own right. With platformers seeing a bit of a renaissance thanks to indie titles and remakes, Daxter could easily find a new audience. These PSP games didn’t just fill time—they delivered unforgettable experiences. It’s time they were reintroduced to a new generation.
